What are Dental Implants?

You might be asking, what are dental implants and why should I be interested in them? Well, if you are missing one or more teeth, dental implants could be highly beneficial for you. Dental implants are small titanium posts that are surgically embedded into your jawbone and topped with replacement teeth. This procedure provides a permanent solution to missing and broken teeth.

The Dental Implants Process

The dental implants process differs based on individual cases. Bone grafting may be necessary before beginning the dental implants process. To find out your personal treatment plan for dental implants, schedule a personal consultation with Dr. Bullock.

Generally, the dental implants process is broken into 4 steps:

  1. Step 1: Dr. Bullock will determine if you are good candidate for implants in a personal consultation.
  2. Step 2: Once considered a good candidate, you will be ready for dental implants surgery. During this procedure, Dr. Bullock will embed very small titanium roots into your jawbone with a special drill. You may be sent home with transitory teeth after this surgery.
  3. Step 3: During the recovery period, your metal roots will amazingly fuse with your jawbone in a process called osseointegration. When this process is complete in a few months time, the roots will be as durable as your natural teeth!
  4. Step 4: After osseointegration is complete, you will come back to the office to have your transitory teeth removed and your new, custom-crafted teeth added. Your transformation will be complete.
